When students in New York state plan for college, more have their SAT scores sent to Binghamton University than to any other school. More than that, Binghamton University attracts intelligent and motivated students (1267 average SAT score for Class of 11 compared with 1028 national average) and retains more than 90 percent of those students for their sophomore year.

Binghamton University gets high marks from national surveys and achieves outstanding academic results.

  • Fiske Guide to Colleges has called Binghamton University "the premier public University in the Northeast"* for the last five years. For more than a decade, the University has been among U.S. News & World Report's top 50 public universities in the nation. The Graduate School is also in its top 50 ranking of public doctoral universities. Binghamton is a top-10 best value for in-state students (number two for out-of-state students) as measured by Kiplinger's Personal Finance. Binghamton s School of Management is ranked 40th best undergraduate business program overall and 15th best public by Business Week.

  • Sixty-eight percent of Binghamton s students graduate in four years; among public research universities, only the University of Virginia and the College of William and Mary have a higher graduation rate than Binghamton, according to the Education Trust.

  • Binghamton University s new College of Community and Public Affairs was established in 2006, uniting social work, human development and public administration in one school. The 700 undergraduate and graduate students in the college will become leaders in forging public-private partnerships and making government work more efficiently. The students  accomplishments advance Binghamton s reputation as a national leader in educating and training people to serve the public good.

  • Long before globalization became a buzzword, Binghamton recognized the importance of teaching students about the world and fostering an international exchange of ideas. That s why more than 1,500 international students from 90 countries attend Binghamton University, while dozens of visiting international scholars and faculty bring their worldly perspective to our campus. The University has won seven awards for the strength of its international programs, notably being honored by NAFSA: Association of International Educators as one of five premier schools with extraordinary achievement in internationalization.

  • Klee fellowship students receive teaching assistantships in Broome County schools through the University's Center for Science, Mathematics and Technology Education (CSTME). Students earn, learn and are prepared to jump into their own classroom when they graduate, improving math and science education in public schools.
